“I have worked with Catarina Neves Ricci since 2015 on multiple occasions and projects. Catarina is a fearless artist who always surprises me with how she reinvents herself and keeps on exploring new ways for her artistic expression and fresh ideas to come alive. She is not only a great filmmaker; her creativity is beyond mediums. She is for sure one of the most hard working and diverse artists I know.”
Tatu Rönkkö, Helsinki-based Musician and Sound Artist

I met Catarina Neves Ricci during the making of MARIA, a film she wrote and directed, in which I act as co-protagonist. It wasn’t a common experience. In my 50 years as an actor I haven’t witnessed such creativity, resources and command in one person alone. During months Catarina kept an intense dialogue with the actors, not only about the project but because of her insightful observations, we could discuss life, art, and the bold possibilities within the script. During the filming I could observe her endless discipline and the intelligence with which she deals with her crew and directs her cast - in a context that was particularly sensitive due to the topics of MARIA. I was impressed. What a gigantic work. A gigantic work I consider only possible due to her professionalism, commitment and lucidity. (…) Catarina deserves every opportunity to produce and to show her work.”
António Fonseca, Lisbon-based Actor and Dramaturgist

What Catarina Neves Ricci creates involves the body and natural environment very intimately. The whispering universes of this visual alchemist overflow with beauty. She’s an artist that masters the power of aesthetics, symbolism, and, above all, the feminine.
Her colors, the carefully placed objects, the handcrafted sensual scenes that seem to exude smells, it all permeates the pertinent themes she chooses to work with; and she meets everyone! (…)

The body in all their possibilities, prisons, desires, pain; the body in all its power and plasticity is a powerful object in Neves Ricci’s work. And with never abandoning sensitivity and beauty, she gets to the point. When needed, her scenes get Loud, and she’s never afraid of taboo.
Watching Maria was an experience that impacted me profoundly.”
Jordana Coan, Rio de Janeiro-based Historian and Art History Researcher

”Working with Catarina was one of the most creative experiences I had. Her knowledge of dramaturgy, storytelling, and the languages within the body, is hard to match. Catarina is busy creating an unique movement and forms for the performatic body, meeting all ages, that is beyond stunning! “

Louis Nam Le Van Ho, Brussels / Paris-based Dancer and Assistant Choreographer

”Catarina is a force of nature and creativity. She produces at a high professional level no matter the budget and platform, and always with an eye for, and ambition to, create art that inspires and engage intimately with the audience. It’s exactly because of her focus on artmaking and her warm and sensorial filmmaking languages that I and Efterklang enjoy working with Catarina so often.”
Rasmus Stolberg, Copenhagen-based Musician and Producer

“Catarina is a very insightful and sublime artist, with a strong visual signature. I remember watching her work prior to her arrival in Slovenia, and discussing her piece TAKAISIN in 2019, when she collaborated with the Slovenian National Theatre in a play, and find it all fascinating! How she keeps working on her concepts, her research and her resilience - how she spends years on her own in the Finnish Arctic to research on the relationship between sound - body movement, ancestry and symbolisms (…); I can’t wait to see her creations in our theatres and in film!”
Marko Bratus, Artistic Director of the Slovenia National Theatre - Nova Gorica

(…) Let´s not put her in boxes, nor attempt to lable or define her work. Neves Ricci is a beautiful mystery that navigates in the waters of Kate Bush, Björk, Prince, and Nick Cave. The light and the dark, the body and the mind, human/human-nature dichotomies, the pleasure and the pain. I think she knows intimately them all.
H. Dahl, Berlin-based Performing Arts Producer
